Mendip business leaders went live on 06 June 2008 with a new website to support the business community in Mendip. Aimed at local and incoming businesses the new website www.mendipbusinesslife.co.uk  has been designed to help create a more enterprising and business friendly culture by promoting the Mendip area as a good place to live and do business.

The website is the result of many months of collaboration between the members of the Mendip Business Leaders Group. This group consists of representatives from business organisations as well as local business people from the Mendip area. Designed and managed by Frome based web specialist marketing company Tickbox Marketing, the website features a source of information and advice for both local and incoming businesses, including a directory of over 1,000 local businesses, events listing, vacant commercial property listings and a forum. There are also links to mainstream business service providers such as Business Link, the Federation of Small Businesses and the local chambers of commerce.  The website has been designed to make it easy for people to add their own content and local firms are invited to add their details to the business directory and upload forthcoming events all free of charge.

Claire Sully of Tickbox Marketing, Frome said: “With Mendip Business Life we are marketing the Mendip area to businesses, with the dual message that this area is a great place to live and a great place to work – whether you want to set up a new business or grow an existing one. It is great to be part of a website development that has meant us working with some of Mendip’s key business leaders.  We are particularly excited about this project as MBL is celebrating and marketing one of the finest areas in England!”

During the development of the Mendip Economic Strategy local businesses said: ’Market the market towns to themselves’ and this website is a response to that call.  The website has been funded by the Mendip Strategic Partnership.

Allison Herbert, business development officer at Mendip District Council, said: “It is great to see the business life website up and running and the district council is proud to be part of such a great partnership, which helps us to support the business community and encourage traders to prosper and continue to develop their businesses.  We hope that lots of businesses will start using the forum to make contact with each other.”
