The South East England Development Agency, SEEDA, announced on 17 August 2010 that it is to begin work on the development of the new Dartford Business Centre on the site of the former Unwins depot in Victoria Road, Dartford. The 30,000 sq ft landmark building, which will be called The Base, will encourage and support small and starter businesses in the North West Kent and Dartford area. The new buildings will include office and studio workshops and be managed by Basepoint Developments Limited. It has been designed by leading architects RH Partnership and will be constructed to the highest environmental standards meeting the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ criteria, which includes low water usage and low CO2 emissions. Contractors R G Carter will start on site on 23rd August and the new building is expected to open spring 2011.
