Rettenmaier UK Manufacturing Limited, an international business manufacturing pellets used as a stabilising additive, has expanded its production facility at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, after being awarded a Grant for Business Investment, GBI, of GBP236,400 from East Midlands Development Agency, emda. The expansion of this facility, which manufactures the VIATOP® pellet, is part of a GBP2.3 million investment made by the company to improve premises at Crown Farm Business Park in Forest Town and purchase various plant and machinery. The VIATOP® pellets are used as a stabilising additive for stone mastic asphalt, which forms a thin wearing course used in road construction. The project will create a further 15 jobs.
The company is part of the JRS Group, a large multinational business based in Germany, which is a global leader in the provision of fibres and specialises in highly technical pulverising, fractionating and refinement processes. Kevin Taylor, Director of Rettenmaier UK Manufacturing, when announcing the expansion on 23 August 2010 commented: “The JRS Group has been supplying pellets into the UK market since 1996 and decided that it was now commercially viable to manufacture them locally. We forecast substantial growth in demand for the pellets over the next few years. The production facility in Mansfield will allow us to meet this demand.”
emda’s Investor Development team is working with the company to assist in areas such as recruitment and training. The team, which works with foreign owned and large UK companies in the region, helps businesses to understand and access the range of support available to them, from obtaining finance, to linking them with the expertise of the region’s universities. << Go Back
