Sir Andrew Cahn, the CEO of UK Trade & Investment, UKTI, presented an award at the first Nordic/UK Business Awards at the London Stock Exchange on 4 March 2010 to showcase the cream of Nordic business talent succeeding in the UK. Set in the powerhouse of global trade, the awards were proudly sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Lloyd's, Oury Clark and regional agencies as well as the hosts - the London Stock Exchange

Sir Andrew Cahn, the CEO of UK Trade & Investment, UKTI, presented an award at the first Nordic/UK Business Awards at the London Stock Exchange on 4 March 2010 to showcase the cream of Nordic business talent succeeding in the UK. Set in the powerhouse of global trade, the awards were proudly sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Lloyd\'s, Oury Clark and regional agencies as well as the hosts - the London Stock Exchange.

The awards capture the zest of the strong relationship between the UK and Nordic countries. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) plays a vital role in this relationship, having helped 140 Nordic companies over the last three years to set up in the UK. Approximately 1,000 jobs in the last year were secured by aiding Nordic investment. Major firms helped by UKTI feature amongst the finalists, including Statoil, Nokia, Novo Nordisk and Vattenfall.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Sir Andrew Cahn, Chief Executive of UKTI said: "It is an absolute pleasure to celebrate the cutting edge Nordic companies that are transforming UK lifestyles, from what our mobile phones can do, to the way we do our accounts and listen to music. The awards were:
• Business of the Year Award - Statoil, the Norwegian oil and gas company and wind farm developer, beat its green technology partner Statkraft to win the award following two decades of investment into the UK.
• Entrepreneur Award - Swedish Spotify hosts a music platform that provides licensed free music streaming, providing revenue to artists and reducing illegal downloads.
• Newcomer of the Year Award - Danish E-conomic provides expandable online accounting services to all size of business.
• Research & Development Award - Finnish Nokia, the world\'s number one manufacturer of mobiles by market share, develops its nanotechnology at the Nokia Research Centre in Cambridge.
• Corporate Social Responsibility Award - Novo Nordisk, a Danish healthcare company, focuses on its Triple Bottom Line to make ethical business decisions.
