SEEDA, the South East England Development Agency, was delighted when Eurostar announced on 31 July 2008 that it has re introduced the daily service between Ashford and Brussels. "The RDA and partners were confident in lobbying for this that the demand would be there and believe that the reinstated service will be hugely beneficial to the growing number of business people in Kent. It will help boost Ashford's economic growth by building on the excellent connectivity of the region." said Pam Alexander, SEEDA Chief Executive.
She added; "SEEDA has also been successful in securing European funding to help develop an inter regional service between East London, Kent and northern France using the high speed line. We have been working with Network Rail and the Government to upgrade the Hastings and Ashford line to tap into the South East coast market. We are confident that all these services will help Eurostar in increasing its passenger numbers."
