A company set up to exploit the potential of innovative digital pen and paper technology is planning to significantly increase export sales with support from Invest Northern Ireland. inphoActive Ltd, based in Belfast, was formed in 2007 and builds process, workflow and forms solutions for businesses using digital pen and paper technology to help clients improve productivity, speed up communication of information, and reduce forms processing costs. Such technology combines the use of traditional pen and paper with a computer\'s ability to store, share, and process the information collected. Maximising efficiencies and reducing costs in processing handwritten data are the key benefits to the end user.

inphoActive has secured an important partnership with Swedish company Anoto, achieving Gold Partner status and has already gained a number of prestigious contracts with various private and public sector organisations. In addition, inphoActive has developed a partnership with a US technology company following its participation on an Invest NI trade mission. With Invest NI support, inphoActive Ltd is now planning to recruit another two senior staff to develop sales and customer support, and carry out market development visits to the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, Europe and North America.

Fergus Wallace, Managing Director of inphoActive, says: “Following participation on the Invest NI trade mission to the USA last year, we met with Livescribe, a leading provider of consumer based digital pen technology. As a result, we secured the rights to distribute their product in Europe. Our objective now is to rapidly grow export sales through an intensive series of market visits and by securing further joint sales activity through partner networks. Invest NI’s support has been crucial in allowing us to quickly recruit key staff and get the marketing activity underway.”
