Almost GBP2 million in European Regional Development Funding, ERDF, is set to transform a 3.8 hectare brownfield site, located at the entrance to Knowsley Business Park, Liverpool to provide a new, high quality, mixed use business park. ERDF investment will enable the development of an initial phase of high quality business workspace, comprising two separate buildings subdivided into 13 individual units. Funding will enable the site clearance, preparation and infrastructure works to accommodate approximately 12,700 sq m of office accommodation.

The project, which is being brought forward by River Street Assets LLP, aims to address the insufficient supply of new, good quality business workspace premises to cater for demand, encourage economic growth and inward investment. David Malpass, Director of the European Programme at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), speaking at the announcement of the scheme on 11 January 2011, commented: “ERDF investment is really going to transform Knowsley’s Business Park, providing much needed space for businesses looking to move into the area. The mixed use nature of the business park will ensure that a variety of businesses are catered for, making this an attractive location for investment in the future.”

Flo Clucas, of Liverpool City Council and a member of the ERDF PMC, commented: “ERDF investment has paved the way for the creation of new, flexible office accommodation that will increase Knowsley’s appeal as a location for business. This development will not only encourage business investment into Knowsley, but will create jobs within the area also. I look forward to seeing the development works progress, as well as the opportunities it will bring to Merseyside.”
